Excel Powered ai
Having AI directly inside Excel has so many use-cases. After this tutorial you will have the ability to prompt chatGPT-4o inside of a function. For example you might have a column full of Cities, and you want to get the country of each city. After finishing this tutorial you could just type (in column B2) a function like this =AIAssistant("What country is the city " & A2 & " in?")
All this is doing is sending the following prompt: What country is the city (Contents of A2) in?.
For example if you had London in A2, the API would send the following:
What country is the city London in?
So, what do you need? You'll need an API, this is incredibly easy and super cheap to do and get (we are talking $0.001 if it's just a small amount of data). If you have plus, you'll already have access to the API and may even have some free credits. You will of course need Excel (this works with windows only, although it is possible to tweak for Mac).
Go to this github link I created (give it a star if you enjoy it), copy the code.
Now open up excel, enable macros.
Pres Alt F11
Press insert (at the top), then select Module
Copy and paste the code into the module
Replace XXXXXXXXX with your sk- api key
Save as macro-enabled workbook.
