GPT-4o Q&A
I know a lot of you know all of this, but I still see a lot of questions around what people (both free and paid) have access to in relation to GPT 3.5/4/4o, what features are actually available and limitations. So here's a quick Q & A without the Q on the new updates with GPT-4o
ChatGPT-4o is only partially available for both free and paid users. The text part is here. The image recognition part is here (which is ridiculous by the way). Nothing else.
If you are a free user and you still haven't got the option at the top of the screen to use GPT-4o then click this link and it may well push the update through and make it available to you.
The voice abilities are the old ones, there's currently a on-going saga with Scarlett Johansson attempting to sue OpenAI for supposedly using her voice for the Sky persona on the new voice update, well it turns out they didn't clone her voice, you can read up on that here.
Moving on...
Both free and paid users are limited, but paid users are having 5 times more messages, it's unknown how many chats free users get, I've seen some people say 5 and then it reverts, but the time window is 3 hours and it will refresh.
The video and the voice updates will come in the next few weeks.
Paid users still have access to version 4
Free users now have access to custom GPTS, however there are a lot of reports that they can't actually use the GPTs. If this is the case for you then it's rolling out and it is on it's way in the next few weeks.
There are a limited number of people able to access the Desktop Mac App.
The number of features between the paid and free users are now much. It's more about limitations for the amount of messages. However, I suspect that GPT5 is on the horizon along with further updates and features for paid users.
